Pink-Mountain

Acrylics on canvas, 200*100 cm, not available.

The idea was to brighten this rather dark meeting room and open a new perspective.

The room has a stretched shape with a window on one of the long sides that faces an internal corridor. Blinds prevent looking into the room and out of it, too. The dark grey carpet and the back chairs are in big contrast to the white walls and the off-white table and sideboard.

The colours of the painting are inspired by different stages of the sunrise to bring the briskness and warmth of a new day to this room.  I picked the theme of a mountain in the distance to add some depth to the room, to install something like a second window. The pink colour should prevent thinking of negative aspects that may be connected with a mountain, such as the strain and risk when climbing it. I tried to avoid sharp edges and blend the mountain with the sky and the ground to reduce its optical weight.  Painting something that representational was new to me and made me rethink and repaint the mountain and its edges over and over again.
